How to Play DSD Natively on a Mac

Updated: Nov 21

To play DSD (Direct Stream Digital) files natively on a Mac, please purchase Pine Player Pro from the Apple App Store.

Since macOS does not natively support DSD files, an external DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) that can decode DSD using the DoP (DSD over PCM) method is required.

DoP (DSD over PCM) support: Most modern DACs can convert DSD to PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) and play it back using the DoP format. Pine Player Pro can play DSD formats such as

DSD64, DSD128, and DSD256 via DoP.

First, select the DoP 1.1 function in the settings menu, as shown in the image. Then, add the desired DSD file to your playlist and start playback. Naturally, while playing DSD via DoP, PCM processing functions such as EQ, DSP, and Crossfade cannot be used.

Enjoy the rich sound quality of DSD with its original characteristics.
